Salmon Bay Eagles Dance Series with Brian Lee and The Blues Orbiters

|

By Brian Lee and Zab Zyvoloski

Calling all dancers! Brian Lee and The Blues Orbiters and the Salmon Bay Eagles in Ballard have joined forces to bring you a great new monthly dance series! The dance features live blues every month from Brian Lee and The Blues Orbiters, and is targeted for Sunday at the end of each month, with Sept. 26, Oct 24, Nov 28, and Dec 19 set as the first dates in the series.

The dance will be held in the upstairs party room of the Eagles. It has a big wood floor that's perfect for dancing! In addition to the dance, lessons will be available, taught by Zachariah Cassady. Zachariah is an exceptional dancer and a very experienced instructor. The Orbiters and Zachariah have worked together before at many dances and the combination is a great fit. Lessons begin at 6PM, and the dance runs from 7-10PM. The dance is all ages and open to the public. Admission is $5 for the lesson, $10 for the dance, or $12 for both. Salmon Bay Eagles members attend for free!

Falling LeavesWe're really pleased with how the planning for the series came together. The Eagles' Thursday Night Blues event is an institution in the Seattle Blues scene, running for twenty continuous years! To compliment Blues Night, the Eagles had a general idea to develop a dance that would provide an additional benefit for its members, to possibly attract new members, and to provide a valuable public use of its facilities. Similarly, Brian and the Orbiters have been performing for dance events in the region for years and are one of the premier dance-oriented blues bands—but wanted to do something more.

Brian and band had the idea to host a regular dance so that their fans would have a routine opportunity to come out and dance to the band in a setting that has an ample dance floor and other amenities. What better place than the upstairs room at the Eagles! Their prior work with Zachariah enabled them to complete the picture with dance lessons. We all got together to work out the details, and it fits like a glove!

So mark the dates, grab your dancing shoes, and come on out to join us at this great new monthly dance at the Eagles! See you there!
